Our Facilities

At Mudgee Little Learners, we understand the important role the environment plays in children's learning. The centre has been architecturally designed to create an environment that is safe, nurturing and stimulating where children are encouraged to discover, explore and imagine. This enables children to develop their own ideas, to discover, explore, and construct their own sense of agency.

Outdoor play areas include:

• Chicken coop
• Water pump
• Edible garden
• Sensory boards
• Mirrors
• Sandpit
• Cubby houses
• Slides
• Mud Kitchen

We have a qualified music teacher, Gemma, who conducts music lessons in our state of the art music room.

Swimming Lessons

In the warmer months we have swimming lessons to help teacher the children how to be water safe.

Our exciting Drama program for boys and girls between the ages of 2-6 that teaches skills relating to Drama- singing, dancing, acting, performing- in a fun and creative way. Our goal is to develop children’s confidence and to develop a strong foundation in Drama. During the classes, the children will go on exciting adventures where they’ll be encouraged to use their imagination and creativity; we’ll challenge their dance skills and ability to hear various tempos and themes in music and we’ll use lots of props to further inspire their creativity. Occasionally the use of the performing arts room encourages the children to gain confidence in public speaking.

Art Classes

Art classes are conducted by a professional artist for preschoolers and before and after school care children.

Cooking classes

Our chef Hayley provides cooking classes for our children. Hayley implements nutritional and numeracy skills during her lesson while the children have lots of fun.

Good nutrition is very important for the development and growth of young children. Our age-appropriate, balanced menus are as delicious as they are nutritional. Our menus incorporate a wide range of fruit, vegetables, legumes and proteins and focusing on meals with low GI complex carbohydrates, low added sugar and unsaturated fats. Our qualified chef ensures that dietary requirements are met, including those for children with allergies, those who are vegetarian or have other special requirements. Our premises and procedures strictly comply with all food safety regulations.

We also understand that meal-times are just as important as the food. When children gather together to eat and drink, an opportunity for social and language development exists along with the support of self-help and hygiene skills.

Child Care Subsidy Changes

As of July 2, the Federal Government introduced its new Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This new subsidy replaced the existing Child Care Rebate (CCR) and Child Care Benefit (CCB).

The CCS helps eligible families to access who use approved and registered child care, by subsidising some of the cost. This subsidy could be as high as 85% of the cost of child care.

Below is some information on the CCS and you can visit the Department of Human Services website for more information.

For instructions on how to confirm your child's enrolment details for Child Care Subsidy go to this Human Services page

How is the CCS calculated?

The CCS is calculated by a number of factors such as:

  • Activity Level (see graph 1)
The amount of recognised activities completed in a fortnight such as paid work, study, volunteering.
  • Combined Family Income (see graph 2)
  • Service Type and Hourly Rates
The type of service you are using such as long day care or outside school hours care.

Additional Child Care Subsidy

The Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) is in place to provide additional support with the cost of child care for eligible families. This payment replaces the Special Child Care Benefit (SCCB), Grandparents Child Care Benefits (GCCB), Benefit and Jobs, Education and Training Child Care Fee Assistance (JET).

Why is there a 5% withholding on my payments?

Some families are unable to estimate their income accurately ahead of time, so Centrelink withhold 5% of your CCS each fortnight to reduce the likelihood of overpayment.

This means if you overestimated your family income and didn’t receive enough CCS, the outstanding amount will be paid directly to you. This will include the 5% payment withheld over the year.

If you underestimated your annual family income you may have a debt which you’ll need to pay back. The 5% amount withheld will be used to reduce the debt.
